No one seems to generate as much excitement with their personal style as Meghan Markle. Since her engagement to Prince Harry, the Duchess of Sussex has always managed to infuse much of her personal style into the usual protocol required at official events. However, since her nuptials, many have wondered how Markle would adapt to the strict fashion rules that come with being royalty.
After all, as a royal, the Duchess of Sussex is banned from wear colored nail polish or cross her legs. While many have expected the Duchess to be somewhat of a style rebel, she has towed the line to some extent in recent months. However, during a recent outing, many have observed a rare instance of Markle parting with royal protocol.
At a gala showing of Hamilton, Markle was spotted sans evening gown in a Judith and Charles tuxedo dress. Aside from not being in the typical category for the occasion, the dress did not reach the knees and Markle opted out of wearing hosiery – a rule that is strictly followed with little to no exception.
As to what this could mean, few really know. It is not likely that the royal dress code has suddenly amended its rules. Furthermore, it is perhaps not likely to be a constant choice for Markle from here on out. However, one does have to wonder if the Duchess of Sussex is setting a precedent for the protocol in her own small way.
