Since her wedding back in May, her Royal Highness the Duchess of Sussex has continued to make headlines with her sartorial choices. For many of her appearances since then, Meghan Markle seems to have stuck to a somewhat bridal color palette, often sticking to colors such as whites and light blushes.

This fairly neutral wardrobe has been the subject of much analysis amongst followers of fashion. Some have speculated that Markle has had to downplay her own personal sense of style since becoming a royal. Others, such as Racked, have pointed out that the Duke and Duchess have mainly been making appearances at events where they themselves are not the center of attention, perhaps prompting the more modest wardrobe choices.

However, those missing the days of Markle’s more colorful outfits now have recent to rejoice.

This last Thursday, Markle was spotted at the Commonwealth Secretariat’s Youth Leadership Workshop in a stunning bright yellow sheath dress by Brandon Maxwell. The dress, which had minimal embellishment, was paired with nude heels. However, its loud hue was more than enough of a statement, and fans of the Duchess’s style likewise had nothing but praise.

In fact, as of today, the Duchess of Sussex was once again spotted at the christening of her nephew Prince Louis, this time sporting an olive-green Ralph Lauren dress and a matching fascinator. While this may not have been as loud as her yellow dress, it is still somewhat of a change from the whites and greys we’ve become so used to seeing.

Whatever meaning anyone wishes to attach to these outfits, they are delightful editions to the royal look-book. Perhaps as the Duchess further settles into her new role we will continue to see more memorable looks.
