Art Ortenberg, Cathy Horyn’s Partner, Has Died

A memorial service will be held for founder and vice chairman of Liz Claiborne, Inc., Art Ortenberg, Liz Clairborne’s husband, who later pursued efforts as a wildlife conservation philanthropist. Ortenberg passed away on February 3rd at the age of 87, dying of pneumonia and kidney failure.

The service will take place on May 28th at The Times Center at 242 West 41st Street in New York at 5:00 PM. Following the service will be a reception, also held at The Times Center.

Some of the speakers at the service include Dana Buchman, Alex Shultz, Liz Claiborne’s son, Cathy Horyn, the good friend of Ortenberg who was the former chief of fashion critic of the New York Times, well-known field biologist and author George Schaller, David Western, who is chairman of the African Conservation Center in Nairobi, Kenya, and the chairman of the Liz Claiborne and Art Ostenberg Foundation advisory board.

Art Ostenberg’s contributions to the fashion industry, and big heart for wildlife conservation will not go unnoticed, and will surely be missed.
