Society has assigned gender specifics to many typical activities, which begs the question: Who defines the rules and limitations for these activities? Who says it’s not normal for a girl to want to play football or for a guy to want his nails to look nice?

Personal hygiene. It’s the first thing you notice when looing at a prospective individual. Does that person keep their hair nice and clean? Are their nails covered in dirt? Are their clothes clean or do they wear the same dirty pair of slacks day after day?

So why are so many people shocked when they see a man walk into a nail salon? Is caring about your personal hygiene unmanly? No. It’s the same thing as brushing your teeth. No one would want to date a person with unclean teeth, why would they date someone with unclean nails? An individual shouldn’t be ostracized or made fun of for taking care of themselves, regardless of gender.

It feels good to have fresh cut nails with no dirt caked under them. So don’t be ashamed to walk into a nail salon without your significant other. No one is looking at you any different.
