The Philippines Mermaid Swim Academy (PMSA) now offers girls and boys the opportunity to be mermaids.
The school provides swimming lessons to those who wish to learn the ways of a mermaid. The school prefers that whoever wants to take lessons has some prior knowledge on how to swim.
The website promises that it, “brings people from various walks of life together, regardless of age, gender and race, through shared fondness for mermaids, or those simply looking for a new and whimsical way to enjoy waters while honing their swimming skills and getting a good workout while they’re at it!”
Students are put into a pool with a mermaid fin around their waist, and they are taught mannerisms and qualities of which mermaids are thought to have. The particular mythical creature based swim course is called “Mermaiding.”
The website describes it as, “a word coined by PMSA is both and artistic expression and fun whimsical way to keep fit!”
The best part about these classes is that unlike other classes who use similar teaching styles, they are targeting a wider audience than in the past when it was really only for performers. These particular classes are only available in the Philippines, but if the trend catches on, people can expect to see them a lot more commonly.
