Metallic Tattoos: Your Substitute For Jewelry

During New York Fashion Week last month I saw a number of women and men with metallic designs all along their arms, legs and hands. What I didn’t realize was that they were temporary tattoos one of the sponsor booths were giving out. After getting one on my wrist that day, I fell in love with all the different designs and found myself wanting more. Of course this led me to do some research on these temporary tattoos.

As with all trends these days, metallic tattoos aren’t a completely new fashion phenomenon. A couple years ago, Dior and jewelry designer, Camille Miceli, collaborated to create a luxe, $120 limited-edition set. It included cuffs, chokers, earrings and bracelets made of actual 24-carat gold micro-particles. However, because of the steep price tag for something that washes away in a few days, they did not quite catch on until now. Today, there are more affordable options because of brands like Flash Tattoos and Lulu DK. From feathers to hennas, they have it all. Choose from a number of designs based on your preference.
