For his newest resort collection, Michael Kors took a risk, attempting to balance a romantic girlie look with a chilled-out, tomboy look. Believe it or not, it worked out quite well – even in the outfits where the two clashing looks appear together. “A little Bardot, a little Birkin,” the designer tells WWD in regards to what inspired his 2015 resort collection. “Our new garden — we just replanted the terrace.”
With designs coming from tons of different directions, no one would have expected the looks to read so well. Feminine garments, including lace and floral patterns, were complemented with masculine looks, like field jackets, leather jackets, and even trench coats. Releasing an obvious look would ordinarily be considered a little lackluster, but in this collection obvious is just enough.
Horticultural elements seemed to play a big role in the design and layout for this season, as floral patterns, tulle, flirty shaped dresses, embroidery and garden-like pastels flocked throughout the collections, along with forest green garments and cargo-inspired pieces. No matter what outfit you prefer, any of these designs will suffice that quaint little rooftop garden party that Kors so desperately wants to have on his terrace!
