At the premiere of War Dogs, a comedy film starring Miles Teller, the actor was asked to comment about his current thoughts about the last Divergent film being transferred to TV. Teller has been involved in all three Divergent films, playing the the vindictive character Peter Hayes. Although due to the news of Allegiant’s low box office revenue, he is considering not making an appearance in the Divergent TV movie.
Teller has commented through social media that he barely knew the film series was going to be transferred into a TV movie a few minutes before the news was released to the press weeks ago. While at the War Dogs debut, he stated that he hasn’t talked to anyone about the news due to his unknown decision to continue his involvement with the film series. He also seems a bit disheveled about being told through the Internet about the Divergent TV movie instead of through the Divergent production crew.
Miles Teller seems just as shocked as his co-star Shailene Woodley, who commented her distaste and unknown decision about the upcoming TV movie. She commented about her indecision at this year’s Comic Con and how the news caught her off guard too.
Miles Teller continued to comment that when he first took the role as Peter, he imagined the films would all release theatrically. Now because of the change of format, he says, all bets are off.
Even though he is disappointed about where the Divergent series is heading, he is proud of his latest film War Dogs. Teller and Jonha Hill are paired together in War Dogs as two men who are trying to sell contracted weapons to troops in Afghanistan. Todd Philips, who is known as for directing the Hangover franchise, directed War Dogs, which is also based on a true story.
The film was originally suppose to star Jesse Eisenberg and Shia LaBeouf, but after Miles Teller told Philips he was interested in the lead role, the esteemed director decided to take a chance with him. Soon afterwards Hill, who was rereading different versions of the War Dogs script, said he wanted to be apart of the film by playing alongside Teller as his co-star.
War Dogs will premiere in theaters on August 19th, 2016.
