The Miu Miu fashion show took place on March 5, 2014 during Paris Fashion Week
Unafraid of color and not interested in following the norm are a few words that can be used to describe Miuccia Prada, creator of Miu Miu. Prada went on a quest to make the ordinary desirable, luxurious, and special when creating this collection. Prada created a new definition of normal, and it is much more luxurious. Quilted nylon is not a fabric often seen on runways, nor is it a fabric often viewed as fashionable. A collection covered in a number of quilted nylon coats, among other things; Prada’s love for the fabric is evident. “More wearable and less pretentious” Prada set out to dress the everyday woman. Quilted nylon in bright colors, metallic quilted nylon, and dresses made from quilted nylon can all be found in this collection. But quilted nylon is not the only thing that stands out in this collection; Prada went on to redefine rain boots. The Miu Miu rain boot is a pointed toe high heeled bootie with a bow embellishment created from the same plastic seen in many skirts and dresses in the collection. A new way to wear something that was referred to as unfashionable at one point, or considered not fashion at all. Daring to combine quilted brocades and plastic, Miuccia Prada was making a statement with this collection. That statement is “Who Cares!”
