The model Andreja Pejic has come out as a trans woman. She was huge news in 2011, when she walked as a male model for womenswear and turned heads as she did so. The model has walked for big name designers like Michael Kors and Jean Paul Gaultier to name a few.
The model exclusively announced the news through People Magazine and Entertainment Weekly, as it’s been revealed that she has sex reassignment surgery earlier this year. Her transition was kept a secret these past couple of months.
Andreja Pejic exclusively told People, “I want to share my story with the world because I think I have a social responsibility,” continuing, “I hope that by being open about this, it becomes less of an issue.”
Her gender identity has always been important to her as she also stated to People, “I always dreamt of being a girl. One of my earliest memories is spinning around in my mom’s skirt trying to look like a ballerina.”
