When asked about how she felt about Kim and Kanye’s photo on the cover Vogue, Naomi Campbell tries to be “politically correct”, choosing not to comment. As she bursts out in laughter, though, it’s clear that she is less than impressed, and possibly even insulted at the idea.
As someone who’s been on the cover of Vogue dozens of times, 2 in one month alone, Naomi has reason to disagree with Anna Wintour’s choice for the face of Vogue this Spring. “I’m a fashion model and I’ve been working for 28 years”, Naomi says with a smile. “When you get a Vogue Cover, it’s a build in your career. It’s a stepping stone to achieve that”. It’s clear to viewers that Naomi Campbell doesn’t think that Kim Kardashian or Kanye West deserve to be on the cover of Vogue, of all other magazines. After all, it’s fashion territory – where all fashion models strive to be, and let’s face it, neither Kanye nor Kim are known for fashion nor do they have careers in it.
Naomi Campbell’s vague response has made it clear. Being on the cover of the biggest magazine in the world is a privilege. Most models can only dream of conquering the cover of Vogue. Kim and Kanye, however, have not earned that privilege.
