Eric Newman, who is one of Netflix’s top executive producers, gave away some interesting information about the future of Netflix’s hit show Narcos. Season 2, Newman says, is guaranteed to answer who exactly killed the infamous drug lord Pablo Escobar.
Boyd Holbrook, who plays real DEA Steve Murphy who was assigned to the Escobar case in the past, says that Narcos creators and Netflix officials are strict in keeping the show’s information historically accurate. Newman raves that the Netflix writers under their staff are doing an outstanding job in presenting historical facts the general public might or might not know about with a fresh and creative twist for the show’s audience.
Holbrook also added while he was out and about at the ArcLight Cinemas in Hollywood for the show’s premiere that he felt that the whole production team has portrayed the character he depicts as a larger than life heroic figure. He also laughed a bit, saying that he was pleased and a bit embarrassed to see how much fans admired his character and performance while on the show.
The new season of Narcos, Newman raved about, is going to depict a very humanized version of the notorious drug lord Escobar. He also commented that he assumes the root of the show’s success relied on fans emphasizing with the villainous character and hopes that this season will prove high viewership just like last year.
Most importantly Eric Newman released a huge spoiler for Narcos, saying that there is a possibility that the show is going to continue forward after Escobar’s death. He continued to comment to the press that the Cocaine trade continues in today’s world and that it is an ongoing story that can be told on their show.
He stated that because of his interest in Mexican drug cartels, he wants to eventually shift the story to another drug lord’s rise to power and possibly how they impacted the drug trade. He commented that he wants to focus on one of the founders of the Guadalajara cartel Felix Gallardo and onwards.
Narcos season 2 will only contain ten new episodes, which will be available to stream on Netflix on September 2nd at 12:01 pacific standard time.
