Ready for the summer

The weather has been extremely cold and New Yorker’s are looking forward to the summer. As New Yorker’s we often take for granted the wonders of this great city.  Ever question what lies just across the Manhattan Bridge? DUMBO, Brooklyn is a small neighborhood filled with great clubs, art galleries and restaurants. Foodie’s this summer may want to make their way to Smorgasburg. From 11am-6pm you can walk round the flea market sampling small plates and beverages from 75-100 different vendors. Rain or shine Smorgasburg is open to the public. For desert visit the famous Brooklyn Ice Cream factory and take a ride on Jane’s Carousal situated next to the Brooklyn Bridge over looking the Hudson.

If you just so happen to be an Indie Music lover you may find yourself standing next to an eclectic male with long colorful locks and a Brooklyn Lager in his hand as his grooves to the sounds of the electrifying Erykah Badu during the Afro Punk festival

Outdoor movies can spark interest to those who would rather sit and enjoy NYC weather while watching a movie. Habana Outpost, East River State Park, Red Hook Park and Brooklyn Bridge Park are usually packed during the summer. Bring your blanket, food and drinks and get ready for a relaxing evening.

MoMA PS1 is a museum housed in a former Public School that hosts art shows, performances and dance parties that are situated throughout the Museum and the scenic roof. One Saturday afternoon make your way to PS1 for their “Warm Up” party where you may bump into Afrika Bambaataa.

If you’d rather not sun tan on the beach, take a trip to Gansevoort Hotel where you can take in some Vitamin D while you listening to a well known DJ, eat delicious meals from their summer barbeque menu and enjoy panoramic views of the city. If you’re in the mood for a cocktail head over to Plunge bar and indulge in their “Perfect Pear” cocktail.
