Spring, summer, and fall are all wonderful times to have a wedding because they give you the option of celebrating your marriage ceremony outside. However, before you say “I Do,” you need to know the dos and don’ts of having a wedding outdoors. Here are important things to consider when planning your outdoor wedding.
1. Weather. They say that rain on your wedding day is lucky… however, many feel this is just an attempt to make a couple feel better about lousy weather. If you’re planning on having your wedding outside, you can hope for a sunny day, but keep these thoughts in mind.
Don’t: Don’t assume the weather will be one way or another because it’s at a certain time of year. Even the weather man makes mistakes, and chances are you’re planning your wedding months ahead of time when you’ll have no idea what the weather will be on that particular day. So definitely don’t just cross your fingers and hope that there will be no rain on your parade.
Do: Do make sure that you have a back-up plan in case it’s pouring outside. One great option is getting married on property that has space outdoors for a wedding ceremony, but also has a building where the ceremony can be performed inside if need be. If you’re dead-set on having your wedding outside, rain or not, then have a tent on stand-by. Also, keep the temperature in mind; you don’t want your guests shivering in the cold or sweating under the sun. If it looks like it’ll be cold, portable heaters can work wonders, and if it’s going to be hot, performing the ceremony in the shade will be helpful.
