Let’s face it ladies, when shopping for the perfect pair of heels, rarely do they fit like Cinderella’s glass slipper. Especially for the beginners, knowing exactly what type of heel to start with can be a challenge within itself. Many see their fellow women in those beautiful 6-inch stilettos and wonder, “It can’t be that hard, right?” The answer is yes, it is that difficult and, as in life, you must walk before you can run. The starter heels are the perfect place to learn to walk, novice fashionnistas.

There are three different facets of heels to look out for when in the market for the starter heels. The first to look for is round toe. It is the perfect type to start with and it is similar to those trustworthy flats in that sense. The pointy toe is ridiculously painful; even for the woman strutting around in 6-inch stilettos. So it will definitely be an injury waiting to happen for the trainee.

The next important fact in shopping for perfect starter heels is avoiding the skinnier heel and settling for the wider or even a wedge. A wider heel or wedge allow for more stability, which evading an embarrassing fall will be beneficial and will allow one to learn the art of balance one step at a time.

Finally, the height of the heel should not be over 2.5 inches. The novice fashionnista will be more confident in less because the higher one is off the ground, the greater the possibility it is to fall or be that “awkward teetering” female at the party. Nobody wants that. The height is similar to being confident on a bike with training wheels before taking them off and riding like the pros.

No longer will you have to avoid the “super cute” heels in the department store and resort to the customary flats.  Strut your stuff and show them what you’re made of!
