Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti loses head honcho Natalie Ratabesi as she chose to abandon her position after 20 short months. The creative director’s exit didn’t come as a huge surprise; rumors of her leaving began after the company’s lack of success in 2014.
Alberta Ferretti, founder of the brand, had picked Ratabesi in 2012 as the first designer to take on the reigns of label, but only received disappointment as a result. Chief financial expert Marcello Tassinari voiced his concern with Philosophy’s performance in relation to its sister brands. He highlighted its inability to keep up, stating that its comparable development was negative.
A recent press release stated that Ratabesi’s decision to step down was deemed necessary on both ends. “The decision was a mutual agreement between the designer and the heads of Aeffe. They have now given the creative direction of the brand to the internal in-house design team.”
So where does this leave the business now? Luckily, Philosophy doesn’t seem to be taking the blow too hard. It has managed to bounce back and make the necessary changes. The company’s Spring 2015 collection is now being exhibited in Milan instead of New York, and the conversion seems to be permanent for upcoming shows as well.
Ratabesi grasps for the remainder of her esteemed reputation, as she’s held gigs at Polo Ralph Lauren, Christian Dior, Oscar de la Renta, John Galliano, Valentino and Gucci in the past. It is unknown at the moment what Ratabesi’s future endeavors hold.
