This past Wed., Jun. 18, “Fifty Shades of Grey” character, Christian Grey, celebrated his birthday. In honor of this fictitious character’s birthday, Universal and Focus Features released a frontal look at Irish actor Jamie Dornan, 32, playing Grey on the film’s Facebook page. The film’s twitter account also uploaded the picture.
Prior to the release of this image, the only thing to keep “Fifty Shades of Grey” fans eager about the film was a picture of the leading man with the teaser tagline, “Mr. Grey will see you now.” However, this picture only showed the back of the actor.
In the photo, Dornan is sitting behind the wheel of a sports car as he stares deeply into space. He sports a fitted leather jacket. This picture may sway the opinions of book fans who had complained about the decision for Dornan to play Christian Grey. Fans had complained that Dornan wasn’t blonde and also that he wasn’t Robert Pattinson or Matthew Bomer. Other fans wanted Sons of Anarchy actor Charlie Hunnam. Hunnam was originally cast for the role but quit, a decision which he called “heartbreaking.” Nevertheless, it seems that the brooding, former Calvin Klein model will have to do.
The “Fifty Shades of Grey” casts includes Dakota Johnson (as protagonist Anastasia Steele), Marcia Gay Harden, Rita Ora, Luke Grimes, and Jennifer Ehle. The film is set to release on Feb. 13 2015, just in time for an S&M filled Valentine’s Day.
