Clothes, like cars or children, are investments. A person looking for a job will be expected to be dressed the part, depending on the type of job desired. They wouldn’t attend a formal event dressed informally, unless they’re seeking to make a statement of some sort. The type of clothes a person wears says a lot about them as a person and it is up to them to acquire the right ones in order to be perceived in the right way.
Thus the debate of quality over quantity is broached. Often, big retail chain stores sell replicas of higher end designs, but when purchasing anything, looks and pricing, while important, aren’t the only things to be considered. It is easy for any store to sell a basic white button down shirt, it’s a whole different story when the materials and make of said shirt is considered. It is impractical to purchase a poorly made shirt for less money because it will eventually show the signs of its quality, and repurchasing it will, after a while, cost more than if the one of better quality had been bought int he first place. The term quality is not only applied to suits and shirts. Everything, from t-shirts to sneakers can be well made.
Stores Cuyana, whose motto is “fewer, better”, market their products as well made and having the finest materials. However, everyone has a budget and can’t always afford to splurge on a $200 blouse. An alternative would be stores like Zara, Mango, and Charles and Keith which provide cheaper yet just as dependable pieces.
