Talk about blast from the past, old school hip hop lovers unite as we stroll down hip-hop memory lane. The 18-year anniversary for Lost Boyz album “Legal Drug Money” occurred on June 4, 2014.

The rap group, in their prime, represented Southside Jamaica and Queens, NY.  Lead MC, Mr. Cheeks, the late Freaky Tah, Dj Spigg Nice and Pretty Lou were idols back in the day. By breeding classic, yet eternal hip-hop music, the Lost Boyz helped to create a style that is still played on many radio stations, as well as featured in the music libraries of popular music sites, such as Pandora and Spotify.

The album produced five Top Hits that landed Spots on not Only Billboard’s 100, but Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks, Hot Rap Singles, and Hot Dance Music/Maxi-Singles Sales. The album went gold in only two months after being released. The infamous song “Renee” made its way to the no.33 on Billboard’s 100 and was created around samples of Janet Jackson’s “Funny How Time Flies”. Also, the hit song was featured in popular 90’s comedy “Don’t be A Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood”.

The song, being a story told about a young girl that resulted in to an unfortunate death, is just a sample of realistic situations that the Lost Boyz rapped about. Hence, it is only right to pay homage to the rap group in respect for their time served in the hip-hop community.

If you don’t know who the Lost Boyz are, than you’re not a true fan of Hip-Hop.
