Say hello to the queen of collaborations for this summer season. After releasing her own line of footwear, Fenty by Puma, Rihanna is now awaiting the release of her eyewear collaboration with Dior. A longtime ambassador of the brand, Rihanna gushed over former creative director, Raf Simons, and his ready-to-wear spring-summer collection for 2016 in a Dior Mag exclusive interview. As the brand continues to search for a new Simons, they have lent creative license to the “Work, Work, Work” singer. Any day now Rihanna’s self-titled line of eyewear will debut. In the meantime, the singer and Dior have taken to Instagram to give buyers a glimpse of the new collaboration. Knowing Rihanna, this collection is anything but mainstream.
Bad Gal RiRi hashtags RihannaDior and ComingSoon amidst the posts of the eyewear line. However, these sunglasses are far beyond what is current. These curved rose-gold lenses are clearly a style meant for the future. With the transparent purple shades that seem to extend the confines of the wraparound frames, Rihanna looks ready for space. Calling all Zenon fans. This look is totally nebulo!
WWD reports that the line will consist of a single frame with variations in different colors. The retail price for the shades will be $840, while a slight upgrade to the 24k gold frames will charge you an extra $1,110.
With her hand in so many collaborations this spring, when will we begin to see Rihanna’s solo fashion career hit the runway? While we await that monumental day in fashion, we are comforted knowing this summer we could be dripping in Rihanna originals. Head to toe.
