After a year of dating, the music duo, Rita Ora, 23, and Calvin Harris, 30, split. The cause of their break-up remains unknown, but the Scottish DJ announced it officially via twitter on Sat., Jun. 7, writing, “To address speculation – myself and Rita ended our relationship some time ago. She is a beautiful, talented woman & I wish her all the best.”
Though Calvin’s gesture seems sweet, “Rita was a little mortified that Calvin tweeted about the split, but she’s just getting on with things,” according to a source from The Sun.“She has been with Khalil, but who knows how long it will last?” The source added.
Interestingly, Calvin’s post came days after Rita posted a cozy picture on Instagram with Justin Bieber’s partner in crime, literally, Khalil Amir Sharieff in Mexico. “Me & this sweetheart” she captioned.
The source also shed some light on the cause of their split, stating, “It was Calvin’s decision to end the relationship. They had been arguing for months and had grown apart. She was constantly posting snaps of her with other groups of friends and her trip to Mexico and photos of her with Khalil were the final straw. Calvin likes more privacy than Rita and he hated the extra attention that came with being her boyfriend.”
After refraining from commenting on her break up for some time, Rita tweeted on Wed. Jun. 11, “I don’t usually address speculation but I’ve had an incredible time w Calvin, & I will treasure the memories.”
In a recent interview, Rita spoke about the difficulties of their long distance relationship, “I’m not a fan on long distance relationships. If you had a choice, you want that person with you. It makes me pretty sad, but you work with what you got.” The starlet said. She also went on to reveal that she had doubts about working with Calvin. Nevertheless, their collaboration, “I Will Never Let You Down”, was a huge success following its release.
Rita showed off her new tattoo on Thurs., Jun. 12, via Instagram. The tattoo shows a freehand ballerina design. “We’re gonna be ballerinas when we’re 102! @andacloud9 #iloveubestie @bangbangnyc free-hand drawn on. You beast! Love you my brother!” Rita wrote as the caption, referring to her best friend.
Rita concluded the topic of her relationship, stating via Twitter, “I’ve moved on from this topic so i hope people will respect that and do the same. Life can only be understood backwards but it must be lived forwards.”
