Robert Pattinson as New Indiana Jones?

According to a report in the Daily Star, “Twilight” throb Robert Pattinson, 28, might be the new Indiana Jones.

According the British tabloid’s report, an insider said that, “Producers have asked their casting department for a top 10 list of potential Indies, who must have wide-ranging appeal. Insiders say they hope to reboot the franchise with two quick films in succession, so would need a three-year commitment from their leading man.”

Before getting too excited by the idea, it’s important to consider the source. First of all, the Daily Star is a notoriously trashy magazine, known for fabricating rumors about celebrities. Plus, could Edward Cullen really fill the shoes of Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones?

It may certainly be a good move for the young star who’s role in Twilight has followed him for years. In interviews Pattinson has even made it clear that he finds the Twilight films idiotic. Back in 2011, before Twilight was even finished filming, Pattinson commented about his role to Vanity Fair, “There’s nothing you can do about it. That’s the way it is… But it is weird being part of that, kind of representing something you don’t particularly like … God. I just really headbutted it.”

This opportunity to take on a new iconic role in a popularized franchise would be ideal for Pattinson. Plus, he certainly has the rugged, handsome face to pull it off.
