In this futuristic music video for Röyksopp & Robyn’s “Monument;” the Swedish singer and Norwegian electronica duo appear to be floating and dancing in slow motion on a one- dimensional moon (or plate?) in the middle of space. Robyn’s chilling voice and lyrics paired with the synth- heavy, jazz infused melodies are a bit different than her usual dance- pop sound. Also, her platform shoes are amazing.
One stand-out line from the track has a dark yet beautiful meaning, “So that when the moment comes, I can say I did it all with love.” This should be a message to us all.
Whatever you do in life, do it with love.
Robyn: “We started writing Monument after playing around with a software that can stretch short bits of music into billions of years of sound. It made total sense to me that Max (director) wanted to explore this floating feeling and mediation in the video…”
