After a 12 years investigation, Sabrina Allen has been found, alive and safe. Allen, now 17 years of age was discovered in Estafeta Tlaxcala, a small town near Mexico City on Tuesday.
Greg Allen, the father, never lost hope that his daughter would one day be returned to him and even had a $20,000 reward for his daughters return. At 4 years of age, on April 19, 2002, Sabrina, was taken by her estranged mother, Dara Marie Llorens, who only had visitation rights after the couples divorce. After a court-scheduled weekend together, Llorens did not return with young Sabrina. There were reports of the two discovered in Mexico in 2003 using false names but were able to avoid capture by authorities.
After her mothers capture, Sabrina was discovered safe and sound at their residence near by. She had used several different names over the years, dyed her hair and is several years behind with her education. An officer of the Mexican federal police was injured during the operation though is he is in good condition.
She is healthy though mentally she will need some time to adjust. According to NBC NEWS, health professionals in Texas are currently evaluating her. She has yet to be reunited with her father.
