On Wednesday, June 11, The X Factor has confirmed that Mel B, best known as Scary Spice from 90’s pop group, The Spice Girls, will be the fourth judge on the show. The star will be joining Simon Cowell, Cheryl Crow and Louis Walsh on the judging panel.

The singer was previously a judge on Australia’s The X Factor and is currently sitting on the panel for America’s Got Talent in the U.K. Mel B is known for her feisty, blunt mentoring techniques, as she made a splash as a guest judge in 2012 on the show.

The singer tells Digital Spy: “I’m so excited to be joining The X Factor – I loved being a guest judge back in 2012. I’ve always thought honesty is the best policy when being a judge and that’s what I’m going to bring more of this year – whether it’s spotting an incredible singer, giving someone a reality check or debating with Simon over who’s got it wrong! Now I can’t wait to get started and find some amazing talent.”

The shows host Dermot O’Leary told ITV that, “Mel was great as a guest judge a couple of years ago and she certainly doesn’t mince her words. With Mel on the panel, along with Simon, Cheryl and Louis, I’ll have my hands full – we’re going to be in for an exciting year.”

Even Simon Cowell, who rarely gives anyone the thumbs up, is excited about the feisty stars return to the show. He told Digital Spy: “I am thrilled that Mel B has agreed to be a judge on The X Factor this year… She is feisty, opinionated and, I believe, will be a great mentor.”

It seems that Scary Spice will certainly be living up to her name on this season of the X Factor – let’s just hope everyone can handle her fiery flavor!
