While long locks will always be looked at with envy, there’s good news for all the girl’s who either can’t grow their hair quite as long as they’d like (damn those monthly highlights), or hate having to deal with thick, messy tangles. Short hair is back, and better than ever. So if you’re feeling bored with the flat lifelessness of your locks and need to spice it up, maybe you should think about getting a chop.

Before you freak out (the thought of cutting off precious length has that effect), think about the last time you had short hair. If you’re like most 20 somethings, chances are it was back when you were ten. Long hair has been a coveted commodity in recent years, and it admittedly can be difficult to get rid of. Short hair however, has a tendency to make women look older, and more mature. Shorter hair can also look good with loose curls (achieved with a big barreled curler). If your long hair has trouble keeping curls, a shorter cut can also help this problem.

So sincerely think about it. Cutting your hair can be scary, but it can also be the change you’ve been looking for. Short hair goes great with turtlenecks, and has a nice business-y look that pairs well with blazers and work pants galore. If Lucy Hale and Lauren Conrad can rock short hair, so can you. So take the plunge, and get it cut. Your new look will leave you feeling better than ever.
