Sodium Lauryl Sulfate: What It Is and Why It Is Harmful

Many people do not realize that chemicals enter the body through more sources than just food. A common chemical found in everyday products is Sodium Lauryl Sulfate or SLS. SLS is a cleaning agent that has been slightly modified chemically to give lotions, creams and shampoos that thick look and feel.

This proves interesting, especially since Sodium Lauryl Sulfate damages your skin and hair. SLS is associated with carcinogens, hair loss, skin rash, eye irritation, mouth ulcers and thinning of the skin. As if that was not reason enough to stay away from this product, SLS is used in car wash soaps and engine de-greasers.
