Director Spike Lee begins his latest collaboration with New Era, this time working for their Heritage Series.

The first collaboration Lee did with New Era began in the ’90s, when he wore a red New York Yankees cap, which was made for him by the company.

This is the third collaboration Lee has done with the brand, and it is part of the New Era Heritage Series collection, and the focus of the collaboration is headwear.

New Era is an athletic and sportswear clothing line for men, women and children. Lee spoke about his collaboration and his thoughts on fashion at the New Era Heritage Series Launch, which was held at the Sunshine Cinema in New York.

“People these days don’t care what team they’re for, they only care about the color of the hat [they are wearing]; that’s not me,” said Lee, according to The Telegraph.

Fashion has played a large part in the director’s work. At the Sunshine Cinema panel, Lee explained every type of clothing, down to the brand, was done on purpose.

According to MRKet Place, the line will feature, “a mini collection of red New York Yankees caps available in lined wool, the original unlined wool, and a new leather option that also comes in white and navy.”

The hats will range from $39-$99, and will be available everywhere on July 24.
