Bags, purses, pocketbooks, backpacks and satchels, whatever you may call them, every woman needs a handbag collection as extensive and varied as her personality. From workbags to weekenders, and clutches to messengers, owning a few accessory options doesn’t always mean blowing half your salary (girl’s gotta eat). Here are a few similar styles with two very dissimilar price points—so you can decide for yourself which style and version is just right for you.
Proenza Schouler PS1 Leather Mini Fringed Crossbody Bag ($1,425) vs. Urban Outfitters Suede Fringe Half Moon Shoulder Bag ($49): Both of these black, fringe-adorned bags have major style points. One is more edgy, and crafted from real leather, while the other goes for a very bohemian vibe with (hippy-loving) suede fabric.

Michael Kors Susannah Medium Tote ($575) vs. Forever 21 Quilted Faux Leather Tote ($29.90): Quilted bags are a known love of high-end designer labels. From Chanel’s 2.55, to Marc Jacobs’ Stam (and now Michael Kors’ version), the right quilted bag can make your outfit seem much more expensive than it actually is. So whether you splurge on the MK version, or take a chance on Forever 21’s pretty spot on creation, you will always end up feeling super chic.

Lulu Guinness Red Perspex Lips Clutch ($390) vs. ASOS Lips Cross Body Bag ($34.11): Bags that double as lips are twice as much fun, and definitely more unique than a plain ole’ tote. The red, patent version from the Queen of Pouty Purses Lulu Guinness is quite the standout, but the black cross body pick from ASOS is a super fun update on the LBB (little black bag). Go with either for a fun, smile-inducing addition to your accessories closet.

Stella McCartney Croc-Stamped Shoulder Bag ($865) vs. Zara Croc City Bag ($179): While $179 is no bargain, Zara’s crocodile-style bag goes with everything, looks super expensive, and is the perfect size to tote just about anywhere. McCartney’s vegan leather, croc-stamped take is definitely luxe, and a cool $865. However, its metallic finish is original and eye-catching (not to mention well-made). You’re on your own making this decision, but both are great takes on the classic crocodile clutch.
