Deborah Lippmann has become known as the go-to celebrity manicurist. She is especially famous for her work with Jennifer Lawrence, who she frequently manicures. Some of her most impressive work includes J-Law’s nails, which were colored “Bitches Brew” at the Golden Globe Awards ceremony this past year and her oval nude nail manicure for the Kate Spade Fall 2014 photo-shoot. Many call Lippmann a “nail visionary.”

Deborah Lippmann currently works for the Magnet Agency. She has designed nail polishes for stars such as Lady Gaga, Kim Kardashian, Scarlett Johansson, and more. She created a line of nail lacquers, treatments, and lipsticks in 1999 with her husband, Jude Severin, and her brother, Mark Lippmann. Lippmann’s nail polish colors are inspired by titles of popular songs.

Lippman was interviewed by Neiman Marcus and exhibited some of her interesting insight into nail trends and her personal style preferences. Lippman described her preparation for working with celebrities before an important event saying, “Planning the look for an award show is a very collaborative effort. I work with the stylist, the hair and makeup teams, and of course the celebrity herself, to make sure everything works together and produces a moment on the red carpet. We don’t settle on a color until the day of the show when we see the dress and choose the jewelry and collaborate as a glam team on what is going to be the focus.”

The celeb manicurist expressed that she currently likes a “feminine” look with almond-shaped nails. She said that this look is both “wearable” and “refined”. Lippman predicted that opaque pastels would be the main trending hues for this spring. In order to stay trendy, she also suggested a light shimmer color, suggesting a color such as La Vie En Rose. Such shimmers, she explained, can also be paired with other colors.

When asked what go-to color every girl should try, Lippman suggested nude or red. She clarified why red is so applicable for every woman, stating, “There are so many shades that accentuate every skin tone. Be it a mulberry red like Bitches Brew or a red with orange undertones, like Supermodel.”

Lippmann is also pursuing her career as a singer. She does public performances and has recorded two solo albums, which are available on iTunes.
