No one makes more of a fashion statement—or any kind of statement, for that matter— than superstar Rihanna. From sporting men’s sneakers to rocking a barely-there (and we mean barely) Swarovski crystal gown, Rihanna has defined herself as one of this generation’s biggest fashion icons.
So how does one dress like Rihanna, you ask? Well, for starters, forget every fashion “rule” you thought you had to follow—Rihanna does not waste her time with such sartorial limitations and neither should you. Being comfortable and confident in your own skin goes miles farther than spending the extra money on that designer skirt you think will solve all of your problems.
Second, mix high-end with low-end. Classic pieces like t-shirts, button-downs and denim anything can be mixed and matched with your fancy leather jacket, designer bag (thank you, Fourth of July sales) or killer heels for an overall ensemble that will end up looking way more expensive than it really is.
Third, wear sneakers with everything! Rihanna knows sneakers are comfortable and chic, so she pairs them with skirts, dresses and (of course) jeans. Get outside the box and wear your Nikes with a cool shift dress or pencil skirt—the change will breathe fresh air into your wardrobe.
Finally, chop those locks! A new haircut is sometimes all that you need to liven up your style and yourself.
