Just one short week after David Letterman announced his retirement from “The Late Show,” CBS announces his replacement. Who better to take his place than funny man, Stephen Colbert? Colbert, who has hosted the Colbert Report since 2005 has recently been a victim of internet attacks. After a joke made on air went misunderstood, angry viewers took to Twitter to petition the show gets canceled. Fortunately for them, the Colbert Report has seen its day. Fortunately for me, i’ll get to watch one of my favorite comedian on the Late Show every night.

Stephen Colbert has signed a five year contract with CBS for the Late Show. He told the New York Times, “I won’t be doing the show in character, so we’ll get to find out how much of him was me. I’m looking forward to it.”

Letterman has announced that he will retire sometime in 2015, but has yet to reveal a date. Letterman has released a statement, saying, “I’m flattered that CBS chose him. I also happen to know they wanted another guy with glasses.”

Colbert later took to his Twitter page to further express his excitement stating, “Let’s see… What to tweet about, what to tweet about? I got nothing. What’s new with you?” Are you excited to see Stephen Colbert host “The Late Show?” Do you think someone else would have made a better fit?
