Many are willing to do whatever is necessary to get an extra 15 minutes of sleep in the morning. However, skipping breakfast should not be one of them! It is the most important meal of the day for a reason.
What many people don’t realize, is that setting multiple alarms five minutes apart actually provides the body with less sleep than if you chose to wake up after the first one. This is because you are not actually getting any rest, but rather just becoming irritated every few minutes.
Skipping breakfast on top of having interrupted sleep will only leave the body with even less energy, and leave you to get irritable earlier in the day. So set one alarm, get your butt out of bed and have breakfast. Your coworkers will thank you.
Give yourself an hour for your morning routine. It will help you later on in the day that you started your morning stress-free. Here are some quick breakfasts you can have at home or bring on the go!
Oatmeal with Flax Seed: This meal is filling and delicious. Flax Seed adds extra protein and a chocolate flavor to plain oatmeal. You can opt to use the oatmeal packets, or original oats. But, skip the brown sugar! Another option would be to prepare the oats overnight with your favorite granola and fresh fruit.
Datorade: Trade in your morning joe for a natural energy boost. Blend water with a handful of dates and put it in a travel mug to enjoy on the way to work.
Whole wheat toast topped with peanut butter and banana: Whole grains, protein and potassium, this breakfast has it all and will keep you going until lunchtime.
Egg white omelet: Prepare three egg whites with avocado, spinach and any of your favorite vegetables. For extra flavor, add spices, hot sauce or ketchup.
Cottage cheese: Packed with protein and its subtle taste makes it easy to combine it with almost anything. It’s a delicious option to start the summer morning.
Fruit or veggie smoothie: Smoothies are great because they are so fast and easy to make. You can search Pinterest for some tasty combinations, or just fill the blender with a handful of your favorite fruits or vegetables. Kale, Banana, Spinach and Mangoes work really well in any smoothie.
