Stephanie Seymour stated her belief that the new generation of models, Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, Karlie Kloss and others, should not be called “supermodels” in an interview with Vanity Fair earlier this week. Considered one of the original supermodels herself, Seymour argued that the term doesn’t apply to younger models. , she said that the young women are “completely different than we were.” Seymour, who had her heyday in the ‘90s, stated that she and her peers had to work very hard to become famous, working long hours in less than

Stephanie Seymour clearly does not believe the younger generation of models has worked hard enough to get where they are, not only saying that the term “supermodel” doesn’t apply to any younger models, but also saying that their title should be, “Bitches of the moment.”  The comment’s dismissive tone certainly didn’t seem funny to Kendall Jenner, who spoke about the comments with Gigi Hadid and recently wrote about them on her website. She said, “No one is trying to steal Stephanie Seymour’s thing, or trying to be her…Being a Supermodel is a relative term. If people want to call Gigi and I Supermodels now, it doesn’t take away from Supermodels of the past.”
