Anyone who’s paid attention to the fashion world as of late knows that sustainability is a hot topic. This year, Copenhagen’s Fashion Summit was based around the concept and brands like Adidas, Nike, and Burberry have been cited as having made new commitments to seek more ethical practices within their supply chain.
In recent news when comes to sustainability, SZA is releasing a collaboration with athletic clothing brand Champion that will be aiming toward a very worthy cause. The 27-year-old singer recently released a post on Instagram with the caption “who tryn to save da ocean?” Reports say that all proceeds of the collaboration will be going toward sustainability efforts, likely toward cleaning the oceans in particular.
SZA has mainly announced the upcoming collection through several posts on Instagram. One of which displays a purple sweatshirt with a textured rainbow applique emblazoned with the words “Sustainability Gang.” Another glimpse at the collection came through one of her Instagram stories, which showed a white sweatshirt with a blue seahorse and the words “Puck Plastic” above in colorful letters.
Of course, many of SZA’s followers were quick to respond, many with questions about the particularities on the venture. One comment said “Ok but how much and does the profit go to an organization dedicated to sustainability?” The singer responded, stating “100% actually!! We look forward to sending you one.”
There seems to be no word yet on the exact date of release; but it is clear that with such a cause behind it, this line may prove to be quite popular.
