Last weekend, Eniko Parrish got married in Santa Barbara to Kevin Hart. The couple have been together for seven years, and had a ceremony celebrating their relationship in front of family and friends, with around 225 guests total. Kevin’s children Hendrix and Heaven were both included in the bridal party. Parrish, of course, looked stunning for her bridal debut, wearing two sheer custom couture wedding gowns by Vera Wang for her big day.
The first gown, worn for the ceremony, featured a plunging V neck with a sheer bodice, hand embroidered with French Chantilly lace appliques, with a mermaid silhouette and dramatic French Tulle skirt. According to Vogue, the dress took over 10 people and more than 150 hours to complete. Vera Wang, who designed the dress based on a design from her 2016 Bridal lookbook said,
“We can’t do this for every client. This is only in couture.”
Lace was also a continuing theme in Eniko’s second gown, planned for the reception. Also a custom Vera Wang, the gown had long sleeves, an open back and was made of sheer ivory lace with French Chantilly lace applique that was applied by hand.
Wang stated that she needs her brides to feel comfortable in her dresses, stating, “She has to feel who she is and go with that…Women are their most beautiful when they feel most comfortable.” Vera Wang is clearly a designer who caters to her client, believing that the bride’s wedding day should be completely her own. Couture gowns, in particular, are for her a personal process:
“When I do couture it is such a one-of-a-kind—in a good way—painstakingly private, intimate process where you really are able to also collaborate with the client.”
Wang seems to have enjoyed working with Eniko Parrish, who has an eye for high fashion. Of the two custom gowns, she said,
“They were both dresses that were custom-designed for her, inspired by the lookbook, but not literal. She is too couture for that!”
