Talks for Another Season of Gilmore Girls

Grab your cups of coffee we may be making a trip back to Stars Hollow in the future!

Netflix’s Chief Content Operator, Ted Sarandos, announced talks for a season two of Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life.

Sarandos told the U.K. Press Association, Netflix recently started “very preliminary” discussions with showrunner Amy Sherman-Palladino and her writing partner Dan Palladino.

After the sixth season of the show, the two were forced out after contract negotiations with the WB went sour. Since the beginning of the show Sherman-Palladino said she knew what she wanted the final two words of the series to be and since she was not involved with the end of the show, she did not get to see her vision complete.

Last November, Netflix brought the world of Stars Hollow back to life with four 90-minute episodes titled “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life”. Sherman-Palladino finally finished the story of the Gilmore girls the way she intended but left the audience with some questions. The way she wrote the end, with Rory revealing to her mother that she is pregnant, brought the entire series full circle but left the audience wanting more.

Mr. Sarandos told the Press Association: “We hope. We obviously loved the success of the show, fans loved how well it was done, it delivered what they hoped.”

The Palladinos have not ruled out the possibility of coming back with even more, but Amy Sherman-Palladino has said that what has been released of the show is the story they originally set out to tell.

Even if the reboot to the reboot does happen, it may take a little time. The Palladinos have a new show, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel coming to Amazon Prime, Lauren Graham is set to star in Fox’s Linda From HR and Alexis Bledel will be a co-star in Hulu’s adaptation of The Handmaid’s Tale.
