News confirmed last Friday that, after 11 years at Teen Vogue, fashion director, Gloria Baume, is leaving the publication in early June, according to Women’s Wear Daily. Baume will finish her remaining projects and stories through the end of May, but will be departing the magazine this summer. Her next move is unknown. She has the full support of editor-in-chief, Amy Astley.
Baume previously wrote the “Editor’s Pick” column on the Teen Vogue website. In an interview with Stylelikeu blog, Baume quotes, “To me, fashion is a call of the wild.” She was known for her eclectic, Roman-inspired style that blends a mix of culture influences and pieces.
According to the interview, she has always had a love for color and menswear. In the article she claims that “[s]ometimes when your persona as someone in fashion gets too big, you forget what your really care about. My life is not my job. My life is my daughter, my family, and my friends.”
This is the second departure of a major editor at Teen Vogue, following Jane Keltner de Valle, senior fashion news director who left to work as the fashion news director at Glamour.
