Texan Patient being Held in Isolation After Diagnosed with Ebola

The Center for Disease control (CDC) has diagnosed a Liberian man with the Ebola Virus. Currently, held in a Dallas Texas hospital, he was traveling from Liberia to the US to visit family. The CDC has confirmed that although the man is infected, he would not have been contagious on the airplane. However, he was exhibiting the symptoms four days before he was admitted to Hospital.

In a most recent update, CNN reports that this “unidentified man” has had contact with 5 “school aged” children. The children, also unidentified, were all presently attending school this week. Rick Perry, Governor of Texas, spoke about their “parents growing concern” over contamination in a speech, earlier today. The man left Liberia on Sept 19th and landed in the U.S. September 20th. During the course his first four days he seemed to be fine. He was admitted and then subsequently released from the emergency room on the September 26th. Only to be attempted again, two days later.

He is currently being treated in isolation.

In an interview with CNN Dr. Amar Safdar, Professor of infectious diseases at NYU, says that Eloba doesn’t affect children the same way it does adults. Even though, it is contagious, the disease does not spread while it’s incubating. There is a period of about 2-21 days of incubation after someone has been infected.

Governor, Perry goes on to state, that “there are few places better equipped than Texas to handle Ebola.” Texas is one of 13 states certified by the CDC do handle “conduct Ebola testing.”
