‘The Bachlorette’s’ Newest Villain: Chad Johnson

Last night’s airing of The Bachlorette introduced reality television’s newest villain.  The Tulsa, Oklahoma native, Chad Johnson, made a disparaging array of ‘honest’ comments during the two-hour episode.  Chad appeared on the second group date of the week, alongside Aaron Rodger’s little brother, Jordan, and ex-marine, Alex.  When faced with the challenge to make a sincere proposal to JoJo on the fifty-yard-line, Chad gave little effort.  After SportsNation hosts Max Kellerman and Marcellus Wiley critiqued his attempt, he defensively called the bachlorette “nagging”.  Foot in mouth, Chad.

The episode took a turn for Chad when he opened up to JoJo about his mother and her recent passing.  In a one-on-one chat with JoJo, Chad admitted, “My mom was like my best friend.”  Even imparting some sentimental words of wisdom that really tugged at the heartstrings.  “You can’t plan life,” said Chad after dealing with his mother’s battle with cancer just six months earlier.

Just as quickly as sweet, puppy-loving Chad stepped into America’s (and JoJo’s) heart…he then turned into a threat-flinging, time-stealing meathead. Throughout the cocktail evening leading up to the rose ceremony, Chad proceeded to cut short his fellow bachelors covetted time with JoJo.  Before interupting Evan, the Erectile Dysfunction Specialist, Chad meniacally dilvugled in an interview that he was plotting the steal.  With a menacing smirk and cold lunch meat stuffed into his giggling mouth, Chad told America, “It’s always fun to mess with people when they get upset.”  What would your puppy think of you, Chad.

As week two’s events come to a close, Chad enters a long list of Bachelor Nation villains.  Just last season’s The Bachelor, Ben Higgins met Olivia Caridi.  After receiving the first impression rose, Olivia became overly confident and unabashedly honest with her opposing bachelorettes, even at one point calling a mother-of-two a “teen mom”.

Will this season’s villain stick around?  With ABC’s previews of violent threats and a potential bloody brawl, let us hope not.  Stay tuned next week for the two-night special, airing Monday and Tuesday night on ABC.
