Dance competition program ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ has been renewed for a twelfth season on Fox. The show will be returning with a new format in the audition stage. The program will be splitting contestants into two teams: stage dancers and street dancers. The two teams will have a mentor and as the competition progresses, contestants will be eliminated by the mentors and the judges until only 10 dancers are left on both teams. The show will then follow its regular format of the top 20 dancers duking it out by dancing a variety of styles.
“The competition is going to be much more exciting for viewers and even more demanding for the dancers,” said Nigel Lythgoe. “Dancers from different genres have always been competitive with each other and we’ve found a great way to harness that to bring out the absolute best performances in the best dancers across the country.”
