Tommy Hilfiger Resort 2017: Free Spirited America

Imagine a 70’s flower child falls in love with an Olympian tennis pro, their conceived offspring would be dressed in Tommy Hilfiger’s 2017 Resort Collection. In other words, Tommy Hilfiger marries a free-spirited mentality with its preppy and patriotic staples.

Inspired by the pop art colors of David Hockney’s pieces, Hilfiger indulges in a color blocking aesthetic, featured as a yellow, blue and white polo with a red color-blocked collar design. An oversized satin green bomber jacket reads ‘Free Spirit’ as it covers a floral, handkerchief style knee length dress.

Pants meet print in a fitted navy floral trouser, which is paired with a baby blue blazer and striped button down. Hilfiger adopts a Canadian tuxedo design in his all-denim look, staying true to America as the denim features the stars and stripes of a waving flag. A series of oversized chevron printed sweatshirts and short sleeved tops are incorporated into the patriotic trend.

A few more retro-styled bomber coats and off-the-shoulder denim piece their way throughout the cohesively complex collection.

As a collared shirt dress meets a red floral lace and baseball caps top striped booty short ensembles, we see the union of a free spirit and a structural mindset. The union of prepster and hippie. It is a new wave of patriotism starring Tommy Hilfiger.
