Transform Winter Pieces Into Summer Staples!

There’s two key words to remember in order to transform your winter wardrobe into adorable summer pieces: budget and re-construction. Think about it- summer only lasts about three months, if we’re lucky, before it starts to get chilly again. Do you really want to buy a whole new wardrobe for three months of wear? Let’s rephrase that: is it logical to buy a whole new wardrobe for three months of wear?

To make your winter pieces into use-able pieces for summertime, it’s all about re-construction.

Jeans: Cut your old worn out jeans into a pair of high-waisted distressed shorts.

Long Sleeves: Cut the sleeves off the shirt and make it into a muscle tee.

T-Shirts: There are a lot of ways to re-construct basic T-Shirts that you may have gotten for free. Over-sized T-Shirts are nice for pajamas, but often too hot for summer. Cut the neckline, sleeves, and bottom hem off the T-Shirt, and make into a simple tank. If you have a lot of Tees to cut, make one into a halter, one into a tank, and another into a racer-back tank.

Maxi Skirt: No cutting/sewing necessary! Wear your maxi skirt as a maxi dress. Worn this way it will end up being midi length.

Skirt: Wear a short skirt as a tube top. It makes for the perfect flowy top, and gives you a different way to wear your skirt, to get more use out of it.

It’s a good idea to invest in a few key summer pieces. This would include: a sturdy pair of flip flops, a bathing suit, sunglasses, and a floppy hat for the beach.
