Tyra Banks Predicts Future of Beauty

Supermodel and creator of ‘America’s Next Top Model,’ Tyra Banks penned an opinion piece this week for the Wall Street Journal about how she sees society’s perception of beauty evolving in the next few years.

Banks has always been outspoken about female empowerment. She is a big believer of women feeling confident about who they are on the inside, as well as the outside. Some of the differences she is anticipating include how people perceive beauty, and the ways they will attempt to attain beauty. Her first prediction being that traditional beauty will be a lot less valuable.

She believes that plastic surgery will be as easy to obtain as Tylenol, and that people will utilize it to achieve a uniqueness separate from everyone else. Next, as a result of Global Warming, she feels that the current natural food source will become scarce. This will lead to people wanting a curvy, hourglass figure, as a symbol of health.

In her outline for the future, there is no room for sexism or prejudice of any kind. Since beauty will be so attainable, many of the features will be of similar variety.

When asked, how females will receive the equality they so deserve, Tyra said this, “Men will be vying for women’s attention, obsessed with being attractive to females and snagging well-off ladies who can take care of themselves.”

Some feel that Tyra’s vision for the future of beauty standards is slightly terrifying. However, the concept, some are saying, does not seem that far off. With so many opting for plastic surgeries to fix their unwanted features, why wouldn’t it be more easily attainable in the near future? The science behind being able to pick traits for your baby to have is already here. Tyra’s concept of picking your baby’s traits off a menu style board does not seem too far-fetched in any sense, but only time will tell.
