Rik Mayall, UK Actress known for his role as Rick, and writing involvement within the series, “The Young Ones”, dies at age 56.
The show ran for two seasons between 1982 and 1984. Mayall went on to become more involved with comedy and TV. Most recently in 2013 he played a character tiled Dad in “Man Down”.
He had suffered from an accident 16 years ago, which is thought to be what was the actual cause of his death. In this accident, he acquired a fractured skull and brain hemorrhaging. A spokesman for him has not confirmed or denied anything yet, but fans are comforted with the fact that he passed away at home.
“We don’t know yet what happened. He had a strong heart, so I don’t think it was a heart attack. But we just don’t know until the coroner’s report,” said his wife Barbara Robbin.
Many loyal friends and fans spoke out on Twitter to commemorate him; this led to Rik Mayall becoming a worldwide trending topic.
Ade Edmondson, Mayall’s partner in comedy, said, “there were times when Rik and I were laughing together when we almost died laughing. They were some of the most carefree stupid days I ever had, and I feel privileged to have shared them with him.”
