“I love the V&A Museum and feel that as two British heritage brands with a love of beauty we were very well-matched,” Lucy Litwack, CEO of Coco de Mer, Harpers Bazaar in a 2018 report. “We met and felt that we could produce a lingerie collection that would embody the key elements of both of our brands – luxury, opulence and glamour.”

“After our initial meeting we felt there was a real synergy between our brands,” adds Lauren Sizeland, the V&A’s director of business development and licensing.

“We share a passion for high quality, exquisite design and felt that we could develop a lingerie collection that would embody luxury, opulence and glamour; key elements of both the V&A’s collections and Coco de Mer’s lingerie offering.”

According to a 2018 Harpers Bazaar report, The V&A opened up its archives for Coco de Mer, who were inspired by artifacts that formed embroideries and prints. An 18th Century glass and gilt scented bottle inspired the golden heron embroidery, while the botanical beauty print originated from an embroidered silk cushion cover. William Morris’ wreath-net furnishing fabrics from 1882 have been used to create a floral print.

While the 32-piece collection – which comprises wired and unwired bras, multiple knicker shapes, bodysuits and nightwear – is unarguably sensual, it isn’t as overtly erotic as Coco de Mer’s typical collections. That said, the silhouettes are all reflective of the brand’s most popular styles.

Coco de Mer is a fashionable purveyor of designer sex toys, lingerie and other clothing, erotic books and gifts.

According to the brand’s website, the collection would like you to immerse yourself in the delicate motifs and ornate patterns from the V&A’s rich archives. Coco de Mer has collaborated with the world’s leading museum of art, design and performance, translating intricate detailing and iridescent surfaces onto glamorous silhouettes. Merging nature with richly dramatic embellishment, this collection celebrates the opulence of ornament in silk satins and tulles.

I tend to focus my attention outwards and am drawn to the external world of action. I learn a lot about the world through experience. Focusing on what I have seen, heard, or touched, gives me the ability to develop a practical and realistic outlook on the world. Making decisions based on impersonal criteria like principles and logic is very important to me.I accept responsibility for my actions. When I succeed, I accept the satisfaction of the achievement, and if I do fail at something, I learn from it and do better next time. I feel confident in my abilities and am accepting of myself. I have good time management skills. I am able to fit the most important things in life into my schedule. I have a strong sense of goal commitment.
