When Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli took over Valentino in 2009, they had a more muted style. Now, for the Resort 2016 line, they are have their signature down to a “T.”

They do have a more simple style, with prim silhouettes that allow for more detail in the beading as well as embroidery. This works for the pair, each year their style seems fresh and the effect on the audience is jaw dropping.

This season, they debuted a long black net dress; stitched all over the body were tiny beads with sneakers. That sounds odd, to think, “sneakers in bead-form?” But it works for Valentino.

“We were thinking about freedom, and Diana Vreeland’s famous quote, ‘The eye has to travel,'” Piccioli said.

While there was fantastic beadwork amongst the collection, best of all were the simplest concepts. No matter what the occasion, Valentino will always be the classiest in the room.
