Vitamin A:

One of the very first things you will notice about avocados is that they contain a wonderful amount of vitamin A. This antioxidant fights free radicals in your skin and helps promote cell growth. It helps protect against acne and reduces inflammation, which helps pull out impurities from within your pores. Avocados also moisturize like nobody’s business thanks to their natural oils and ability to penetrate deep into layers while still being gentle enough for sensitive types. It also has anti-aging properties that contribute towards fighting wrinkles and other signs of aging, such as sunspots and age spots.

Vitamin C:

This is also pretty powerful in fighting skin issues such as blemishes. It is a great antioxidant that helps protect your skin from environmental stressors. It does this by neutralizing harmful free radicals that come into contact with the skin, which results from pollution, sun exposure, and other factors. Vitamin C can also help minimize fine lines, wrinkles and increase collagen production, which means stronger, healthier, and a more elastic skin!

Vitamin D:

This vitamin has recently gained lots of press for its wonderful abilities to fight against acne breakouts. When you are deficient in vitamin d, it can cause your pores to get congested with oil, resulting in large pimples or small whiteheads across the surface of your face. So having enough vitamin D not only keeps your acne at bay but also helps with the production of new healthy skin cells and others to fight against free radical damage. Avocados are very helpful with anti-aging and prevent fine lines and wrinkles!

Vitamin E:

This is a great antioxidant that is naturally found in lots of fruits such as avocados, grapeseed oil, and olive oil. It helps nourish dry tired-looking skin by penetrating the surface layers while moisturizing from within. This wonderful vitamin can help reduce swelling, redness, and puffiness around the eyes, helping you to look refreshed even after a long night out or a hectic week at work.

Potassium:

Potassium plays an essential role in maintaining hydration levels among all layers of your skin. Avocado is especially effective because its gentle nature means even the most sensitive skins can tolerate it. It can also nourish your skin while protecting it from environmental stressors such as dryness, pollution, and harmful UV rays, which can play havoc with your pores, causing them to become congested, producing excess oil, and ultimately contributing to acne breakouts.

Essential Oils:

Avocado has a very subtle scent because of its high content of monoterpene alcohol. This wonderful substance helps reduce cellular degeneration rates, stimulate new cell production AND protect skin cells against free radical damage, making this fruit anti-aging par excellence!

Avocado oil benefits are truly endless, but here are some of our absolute favorite ways to use them, for a multitude of skincare needs:

Hair mask: Avocado oil is very light and can be used by all hair types. It helps nourish the scalp, detangle strands and make the surface of your hair shiny thanks to its natural essential oils. Not only will you look more radiant, but your hair will grow healthier than ever before!

Face wash:

If you suffer from oily or acne-prone skin, avocado oil is an absolutely wonderful gentle way to remove dirt clogged pores among other impurities that may push blemishes forward. Simply mix 3 tablespoonfuls with your regular face wash and use morning and night on clean dry skin for approximately one week to see dramatic results in balancing excess oil and dry skin.

Cleanser:

For the most sensitive of skins, do not bother with abrasive chemical products that strip your face of its natural oils. Create a gentle avocado cleanser at home by mixing equal parts avocado oil with rose water. The result should be a milky consistency that will cleanse your pores deeply while moisturizing all in one go!

Moisturizer:

A wonderful daytime moisturizer for normal to oily skin types. Mix 3 tablespoons of freshly mashed avocado with 1/2 teaspoonful freshly squeezed lemon juice and 2 drops lavender essential oil. Apply to a perfectly cleansed face every morning before applying makeup or going out into the sun. It’s a great way to keep your skin from drying or becoming congested with excess dirt and oil.

Night Cream:

For dry skin, mix 1/4 cupful of avocado oil with 2 tablespoonfuls of shea butter, 10 drops each of frankincense essential oil, and lavender essential oil. Mix well by hand to create a thick creamy consistency before applying generously at night on clean dry skin. The results will be even more powerful when you wake up in the morning!

Scars:

Lighten scars naturally by rubbing them with the cut surface of half an avocado. Many users have reported positive results in fading dark spots left behind by acne.

Stretch Marks:

Regularly massage sore muscles after working out, but also apply vitamin-enriched avocado oil to any stretch marks daily to help fade them and make them less visible.

Cellulite:

Cellulite is the bane of most women’s lives. It can appear anywhere on the body but is especially common in the thighs and stomach areas. To remove cellulite, rub fresh avocado oil (with pulp) over affected areas before your shower, then scrub off for 10 minutes. Repeat daily until results are seen, or if nothing, after approximately 3 weeks.

Burns:

Apply raw mashed avocado directly onto your skin where you have suffered a burn, ideally within 24 hours of injury, and keep covered with a bandage overnight. The next day you should see significant pain relief and reduced redness from swelling. This treatment can be repeated several times per day for a week if necessary.
