It’s not a surprise that Will.I.Am is adding eyewear designer to his resume, in his own words, “It’s about time!”
Establishing a name in the music industry allowed Mr. I.Am to not only highlight his musical talents, but his eccentric, asymmetrical wild style that is translated from tip to toe. With his wild eyewear gear, Will.I.Am will complete his eyewear collection, ill.i.optics, with futuristic shapes that will bring the consumer closer to the entrepreneur.
“When you see today’s glasses, they are missing a little bit of what vintage glasses had. Then when you see vintage glasses, because I’m a collector, that’s my hunt, you just wish they had a little of today in them, so I wanted to marry the retro feel with futurism, take yesterday’s sensibility with today’s aesthetic,” the musician said to WWD.
The collection will include utility-inspired goggle-style metal and wire frames; feminine cat-eye designs that mix matte metal with acetate; retro-style “nerd” frames, and classic round tortoise styles.
ill.i.optics is destined to arrive in select global retailers on September 16.
