Julia Wylie didn’t hesitate when she saw Labradoodle named Jess with a plastic cone around her head jump from the back wall of her owner’s garden.
It’s been reported by London Evening Standard that Jess immediately threw off her shoes and went in after the dog. Julia Wylie was working in the garden when she saw the dog jump, obviously familiar with the dog she knew that it didn’t know how to swim.
Julia Wylie and Jess were spotted by a river bus and then reported to a Port of London Authority vessel who then pulled them out of the river.
She told London Evening Standard, “I thought I was going to have to float down the river with her until we reached the park.” Thus displaying her bravery and resolution to save Jess from the strong despite the strong current of Thames River.
She further expressed her feelings on the situation to London Evening Standard, “It was quite nerve-wracking. I was so worried about the dog, she was shaking and terrified. They are really grateful I rescued their dog. Jess is fine, but I’ve had to put up some chicken wire along the wall to stop her jumping over again.”
Jess and her owners are both lucky Julia Wylie was around and to have such a brave gardener.
